March 2012: The Longest Training Ever! #1

#1 : Training impression
Hello!! long time no write in my very own place on virtual world. Where have I been? Have I forgot about my own resolution as a new free blogger? Okay, let me answer the questions. First thing first, I would tell you about my activity last month. Well, since my boss told me to applied and joined Occupational Health and Safety training, my routine was totally changed. Because of the training was held at Hotel Harris, Tebet, South Jakarta, I decided to stay for awhile in Bogor. What a surprise! I could live in Bogor during my training. It was about 3 weeks I stayed in Bogor. Everyday, I went to Harris by train with track Bogor-Tanah Abang-Muara Angke which is left at 6 am. It was so great that I could wake up at 5 am and prepared everything nicely without rushing. But, as we knew the famous train condition, on every station stopped, people were so flooded and crowded. The crowded jostled people inside train-carriage, pushed on the other’s body which made them grumbled and mad. Hell yeah, that was one of morning disaster in every workdays. I got off the Tebet Station and you know, it needs special trick to struggle and being out of the train-carriage. Backpain and stiffness over my body.
OHS Training was held by Premysis Consulting at Hotel Harris, Jl Dr Sahardjo, Tebet, South Jakarta. This training was to produce certified General OHS Expert (Ahli K3 Umum) which will help ministry of labor and transmigration to implement OHS in their own company. My first day training was so wonderful. That was 12 trainees. 2 of them including me are female and 10 persons are male. I am the only one female who work on an FMCG corporation. Others have been working in a construction projects. Another female named Mrs. Novie has been married and her style was so boyish. I am the youngest girl among trainees and trainers. Again, I am the minority during 3 weeks training. Not a big deal but yeah felt like trapped in a man’s world doing and talking. The trainers were from ministry of labor and transmigration and Premysis Consulting, this training organizer. We had a leader in our batch. He has been working for decades and he is the oldest trainee among us. He’s name is Mr. Soenarto. Later, he always come late because he is a HRD manager in one of construction service and his boss push him to go to office before and after training. He’s the funniest trainee who always being crazy when talking and doing activities. He’s our favorite. We have a yel-yel to arouse our spirit : Safety First - yes..yes..yes.. Twice before and after training.

What did we learned during 3 weeks? 9 training textbooks with 1 super-thick regulations book were being a “gift” from the trainers. First book is about the UU no. 1/1970, basic of OHS, and institutional of OHS. 2nd book is about OHS supervision of steam and pressure vessels, 3rd is about OHS supervision of mechanical, 4th is about OHS supervision of occupational health in work places, 5th is about OHS supervision of construction matters, 6th is about OHS supervision of fire extinguisher, 7th is about OHS supervision of electricity, 8th is about OHS supervision of work place environment, and the last is about OHS System and audit. Accepted many books and knowledge reminds me to being a student in a college again. There were so many active-teaching-methods with tasks and homework in almost everyday. There were a pre-test and post-test in 1st day and last day of training and we held internship at Hotel Harris to knowing about the implementation of OHS in hotel and comparing with all subjects that we’ve learned.
Everyday was like a roller coaster. I felt so busy to do all of the training process. 8 am to 5 pm with twice coffee break and once lunch break. Break time is our refreshing time. We always waiting for break time. 3 petite-four snacks with 3 choice of drinks: coffee, tea, or juice. We always joking or talking about each other OHS implementation then when the time’s over, we were into the classroom again. After 5 pm, the trainer gave us the soft-copies of current subjects then we went to home with a dizzy head condition. I always come back home with Mr. Soenarto. He brought a car and he droves thru the Tebet Station. It was really meant to me because I could catch an early train before much people flooded although I have to stand in front of person and wait her to sit me down. And after 1 hour, voila! Welcome home, Bogor. Sleep tight and wait me tomorrow, hey full-fighting-train!
